An awkward layout and builder grade finishes left this otherwise picturesque home lacking in charm. A wall separating the kitchen from the family room was removed, opening it up to adjoining rooms and allowing for the addition of an island. Builder grade “golden oak” cabinets and laminate countertops were replaced with granite countertops and custom cabinetry. A fresh coat of neutral paint and the addition of a white shell mosaic backsplash lighten the space and contribute to the open, airy feeling.
