Classic Remodeling & Construction, Inc. is a design-build remodeling firm located in Charleston, SC. We specialize exclusively in high-end, residential remodeling with projects ranging from kitchens and bathrooms to additions, whole house remodels, and outdoor spaces.

We are seeking qualified individuals for the role of Project Craftsman/Lead Carpenter. The Project Craftsman/Lead Carpenter is responsible for producing remodeling projects on time and within budget. Our Project Craftsman/Lead Carpenters must be able to provide hands-on production of the project from start to finish, read and interpret plans, and maintain project schedules and budgets. The individual in this role is also responsible for managing other employees and specialty trade contractors when they are on your project, ensuring Classic’s policies and standards are upheld.

As Project Craftsman/Lead Carpenter you will be responsible for:

• Providing hands-on production of the projects from start to finish. This includes, but is not limited to, demolition, foundation layout, framing and structure formation, siding and exterior trim, decks and porches, window and exterior door installation, interior millwork and doors, cabinet installation, hardware installation, appliance installation, and final detailing/cleanup.

• Reading and interpreting construction plans and product specifications.

• Serving as first point of contact for our Clients throughout the project, answering all questions and keeping the client informed of project status.

• Keeping projects on schedule and within budget.

• Managing carpenters, laborers, and subcontractors on your project to ensure work is performed correctly and Classic’s job-site policies are followed.

• Creating material take-offs and order in-stock materials in a timely fashion. Receive and verify all deliveries.

• Ensuring job-site is kept to Classic’s standards at all times. This includes but is not limited to maintaining adequate dust protection, covering and protecting all existing finishes, providing weathertight protection throughout structure formation phases, making sure materials are stacked neatly in a designated area, broom-cleaning site daily, and locking and securing premises at the end of each da

Education & Experience:
• Minimum of 5 years carpentry experience, including knowledge of all phases of residential remodeling and construction.
• Extensive rough carpentry experience including layout of foundations, rafters and stairs
• Extensive finish carpentry experience including trim, cabinetry installation, and interior finishes
• Good working knowledge of all related building trades

We are currently looking to add a Project Manager to our team. The Project Manager should be highly organized and able to multi-task effectively. This position requires in-depth construction knowledge and an ability to read and interpret construction drawings/plans. He/she will be responsible for managing the construction phase of various remodeling projects from demo through close-out. The Project Manager will work closely with our clients, sales and design team, sub-contractors, and vendors to deliver an exceptional remodeling experience.

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Overseeing construction progress on assigned jobs, ensuring Classic’s quality and performance standards are being met.
  • Developing and managing project schedules, according to contracted start and end dates; identifying important milestone dates and assigning key staff and subcontractors as appropriate.
  • Negotiating with and managing subcontractors for each project.
  • Managing project kick-off, including pre-construction walk through with clients, project mobilization, and project close-out.
  • Maintaining communication with client for the duration of the project, ensuring any schedule deviations, billing issues, and questions are addressed in a professional and timely manner.
  • Creating and presenting change orders for client approval.
  • Ensuring timely completion of any punch list or warranty items .

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • 5 years of remodeling experience, including both construction and project management
  • Experience with project scheduling software (Smartsheet preferred)

The carpenter acts as a primary support carpenter for the Lead Carpenter/Project Craftsman. Our carpenters are required to provide hands-on production of our projects from start to finish.

Position Requirements:

Ability to assist with all phases of residential remodeling and construction including:

  • Rough carpentry (demolition, foundations and framing)
  • Finish carpentry (interior/exterior trim, installation of hardware and appliances)
  • Quality control of all related building trades

We are looking for motivated self-starts who are detail oriented and highly organized. Valid South Carolina driver’s license and clean driving record are required. Must have tools and reliable transportation.

Classic Remodeling works with sub-contractors on various trades, including but not limited to tile installation, painting, electricians and plumbers. Any sub-contractor working for Classic Remodeling must be licensed and insured (general liability and worker’s comp).
