The kitchen is very much the center of this Daniel Island home and a place where the homeowners love to spend time. The original layout left it very closed off from the rest of the downstairs living space. To improve the flow throughout the house, we removed the walls separating the kitchen from the library and the dining room and added new cased openings. We bumped out the side of the house, where a breakfast area once was to allow for additional space in the kitchen as well as the creation of a new mudroom. Lighter and brighter finishes like Cambria countertops, white upper cabinets and light gray base cabinets, seeded glass cabinets above the sink and glass tile mosaic backsplash help the space feel larger and give the room a more modern look.
