Lead Carpenter/Project Craftsman

The Lead Carpenter/Project Craftsman is responsible for producing remodeling projects on time and within budget. Our Project Craftsmen serve as the “front line” of contact with our clients and must be able to read and interpret plans, develop and maintain project schedules, and provide hands on production of the project from start to finish. The Project Craftsman is also responsible for managing other employees and specialty trade contractors when they are on your project.

Position Requirements:

  • Knowledgeable in all phases of residential remodeling and construction with a minimum of 5 years carpentry experience.
  • Extensive rough carpentry experience including layout of foundations, rafters and stairs
  • Extensive finish carpentry experience including trim, cabinetry installation, and interior finishes
  • Good working knowledge of all related building trades
  • The ability to lead and teach other carpenters working under you.
  • Ability to interact and communicate well with clients, employees, specialty trade contractors and vendors

We are looking for motivated self-starters who are detail oriented and highly organized. Valid South Carolina driver’s license and clean driving record are required. Must have tools and reliable transportation.

Carpenter

The carpenter acts as a primary support carpenter for the Lead Carpenter/Project Craftsman. Our carpenters are required to provide hands-on production of our projects from start to finish.

Position Requirements:

  • Finish carpentry (interior/exterior trim, installation of hardware and appliances)

Kitchen/Bath Project Manager

We are currently looking to add a Kitchen/Bath Project Manager to our team. The Project Manager should be highly organized and able to multi-task effectively. This position requires in-depth construction knowledge and an ability to read and interpret construction drawings/plans. He/she will be responsible for managing the construction phase of kitchen and bathroom projects from demo through close-out. This individual will work closely with our clients, sales and design team, sub-contractors, and vendors to deliver an exceptional remodeling experience.

As Project Manager your responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing construction progress on assigned jobs, ensuring Classic’s quality and performance standards are being met.
  • Developing and managing project schedules, according to contracted start and end dates; identifying important milestone dates and assigning key staff and subcontractors as appropriate.
  • Negotiating with and managing subcontractors for each project.
  • Managing project kick-off, including pre-construction walk through with clients, project mobilization, and project close-out.
  • Maintaining communication with client for the duration of the project, ensuring any schedule deviations, billing issues, and questions are addressed in a professional and timely manner.
  • Creating and presenting change orders for client approval.
  • Ensuring timely completion of any punch list or warranty items .

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • 5 years of remodeling experience, including both construction and project management
  • Experience with project scheduling software (Smartsheet preferred)

Architectural Designer

The Architectural Designer position requires a professional, highly motivated and personable team member that can lead clients through the design of high-end residential remodeling projects. Candidate must have the ability to meet deadlines,  thorough attention to detail, and effectively manage and communicate pertinent job information.  Experience with CAD and/or Chief Architect software and residential remodeling is preferred.

Specific Duties

  • Photograph, measure and document existing project conditions as they relate to the project.
  • Produce accurate as-built drawings.
  • Produce presentation and working drawings using Chief Architect. Final drawings will include floor plans, elevations, renderings, electrical plans, mechanical plans, and other details as needed to properly convey the extent of all work involved in the project.
  • Lead design meetings with the clients to develop and refine the project.
  • Guide the client through the selection process. These selections typically include plumbing/electrical fixtures, cabinetry, tile and stone materials, paint colors, flooring, hardware, appliances, etc. Document selected items along with product literature, cut-sheets, samples, and other pertinent information for review by the client. Keep the client, appropriate team members, vendors, and sub-contractors apprised of the status of all decisions and changes.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings with the appropriate team members, vendors, and sub- contractors. Issue requests for proposals, provide clarifications regarding pricing and purchasing issues, and collect updated bids to incorporate into the project documentation and final contract documents.
  • Coordinate a pre-construction meeting with the client and the production department and provide quality control during all phases of construction.

Skills Required:

  • Detail-oriented and highly organized, able to work independently and as a team member.
  • Maintains professional demeanor; creative, confident & effective communication skills.
  • Good technical writing and graphical presentation skills.
  • PC Savvy: Skills should include effective use of drafting/rendering software, word processing, spreadsheets.  
  • In-depth knowledge of residential construction procedures and materials.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ prior experience.

 

Sub-contractors

Classic Remodeling works with sub-contractors on various trades, including but not limited to tile installation, painting, electricians and plumbers. Any sub-contractor working for Classic Remodeling must be licensed and insured (general liability and worker’s comp).
