The Mediterranean style of this James Island home did not suit the homeowner’s aesthetic. From a new kitchen and screened porch to 3 updated bathrooms – this home got a total makeover.

The choppy kitchen featured 2 small islands that really closed in the space. By replacing them with an expansive new island the room instantly feels larger and more open. New cabinets, top-of-the-line appliances, tile backsplash, farm sink and unique granite countertop give the space a rich, elegant yet contemporary feel.

In the master suite, the layout was reworked to create a wet room which included a Japanese soaking tub and shower. Two separate water closets - a his and hers - along with two separate furniture-style vanities, allow the homeowners to each have their "own" space. To complete the master suite we gave the homeowner’s closet a makeover as well – adding new shelving and a beautiful center island with plenty of storage.

Upstairs, the two kids’ baths also got an upgraded look. In the boys’ bathroom, a neutral paint color replaced the outdated wallpaper and a "wood-look" tile was installed on the floor. A sleek soaking tub with freestanding tub filler, 2 new stand-alone vanities with antique bronze pivot mirrors, and shower featuring a river rock floor complete the space.

The girls’ bathroom feels more feminine and elegant with new paint, new flooring and fun light fixtures as well as a new double vanity. A vanity top cabinet separates the sinks, giving each girl their own personal space.

Moving to the outdoor living space, the new porch includes a sitting area with 36” woodburning fireplace and TV mounted above. The built-in bar is made from barn wood and features an undercounter refrigerator and recycled glass countertop. In order to allow for true year-round enjoyment of the screened porch, retractable vinyl screens can be lowered with the touch of a button - allowing them to maintain an unobstructed view while also trapping the heat from the fireplace in the porch during colder months.
